San Francisco & Bay Area Michelin Restaurants

The city's starred and tasting-menu rooms — Benu, Quince, Atelier Crenn, Acquerello, Californios — and the booking logistics behind landing a table.

San Francisco is one of the densest Michelin cities in the country — multiple three-star rooms, plus a deep run of one- and two-star kitchens across the neighborhoods. The rooms worth shaping a trip around, and how to get in.

Benu — SoMa

Three Michelin stars. Corey Lee's tasting menu fuses Korean, Chinese, and Japanese technique with California ingredients — the faux shark-fin soup is legendary. Among the very best meals in the country. Reservations open weeks ahead and move fast; book the moment your date opens.

Quince — Jackson Square

Three stars. Michael Tusk's Italian-Californian tasting menu in an elegant downtown room, with produce from the restaurant's own farm. Special-occasion cooking at the top of its game; jacket- appropriate, properly grand.

Atelier Crenn — Marina

Three stars. Dominique Crenn's poetic, seafood-forward tasting menu — the menu is literally written as a poem — in an intimate Cow Hollow room. One of the most distinctive meals in the city.

Acquerello — Nob Hill

Two stars. Refined Italian fine dining in a converted chapel, running for over three decades — the kind of classic, hushed, white-tablecloth room that never goes out of style. The signature lobster panini and an encyclopedic wine list.

Californios — the Mission

A Michelin-starred tasting menu reimagining Mexican cooking through a fine-dining lens, in an intimate room in the Mission. One of the most distinctive and personal meals in the city, and a different register from the downtown grand rooms — book well ahead.

The next tier

Excellent one-star and tasting-menu rooms across the city: Californios for modern Cal-Mexican in the Mission, Birdsong and Sons & Daughters for inventive tasting menus, and Angler on the Embarcadero for a starred meal with a bay view.

How a chauffeured dinner runs

We pick you up 30 minutes before your reservation, drop at the door, and park nearby. When the meal ends — and tasting menus run long, often three to four hours — you text the driver from the table and the car pulls up before you reach the curb. No hunting for a rideshare in the fog at 11pm, and no one has to stay sober for the drive home.

Land the table. We'll handle the rest.

Tell us your pickup, your stops, and when you need to be back. We'll quote you in seconds — no calls, no surprises.
